Skirts hang from the waist-to-hip region. The shape of this region can be used to develop patterns for pants and dress forms (aka body doubles) for men as well as women, so it is also referred to as the Lower Torso Sloper. This e-Book shows you how to measure and create the initial paper pattern called a Sloper.

During this process, you are determining then recording the overall size of the body. But each body is unique. So Volume 1's paper pattern must be cut from fabric then fitted on the body, Volume 2 – Fitting the Skirt Sloper. By using gingham for the fitting shell, you can match the fabric's grain to the body's contours to optimize the fit.
